Wear to Where: Fall Shoe Trends
08.17.11
Summer may soon be gone, but fall's 2011 shoe trends are happening now: where can you find this season's chunky heels, luscious suedes, stacked loafers and wild skins? In this 2nd in a series of fall fashion trend stories, we look at which delicious shoes to put on your feet this fall and where to buy them in OC.
I’m dying to get my hands on a chunky heel; in fact I have some Steve Madden’s en-route right now from Bloomingdales. Fortunately the sturdier more comfortable chunky heel is making a major comeback this Fall in all shapes and sizes. Angled, curved, embellished or straight, these modern sculpted interpretations of its blocky predecessor are not only beautiful to look at, but improve posture with a balanced stride. Look for open and closed toed, booties and shooties in this trend and expect it to stay around for a while.
Suede shoes are a necessity for a woman’s fall wardrobe; since before Elvis was crooning, suede shoes have been worth singing about. They’re a great contrast to straight-up leather or patents; depending on their style and color, suede shoes can indicate a lot about the woman wearing them. Sometimes you can seem casual but professional; in others you’ll evoke luxury, but still be comfortable. Whether you’re wearing brown moccasins or grey booties, you’re bound to feel fabulous this fall with a pair of suede shoes on your feet.
The stacked heel loafer look is back and it’s one of this year’s bigger trends in fashion especially if you love the preppy look. Loafers come in so many combinations: classic boat shoes, penny loafers, tassels and more. Unlike the neutral colors of previous seasons, this year’s loafers will include bright bold colors and hues. Though the classic brown and black are definitely in, other textures such as snake skin, nubuck and patent leather will definitely be making their presence known.
Leopard and snake skin are classic prints that return season after season and this fall is no different. These wildly chic prints, also seen all over jewelry, scarves and belts, are predicted to be one of the hottest trends for fall and are sure to get you spotted for all the right reasons. A hint of animal or reptile can really propel a basic black outfit or a stunning red dress to another level.
